Chronic pain management

A gentle, sustainable approach to long-term pain — often combining aquatic therapy with hands-on land work and a programme you can keep doing.

Chronic pain management at Epstein Hunt Physiotherapy

How we approach chronic pain

Chronic pain — pain lasting longer than three months — often responds well to an approach that is patient with the body rather than aggressive with it. Our work with chronic pain combines:

  • Aquatic therapy in the heated pool, where buoyancy and warmth open a window for movement that feels punishing on land.
  • Hands-on land care when it adds value.
  • A programme you can repeat between sessions — small, specific, and sustainable.

What a session looks like

The first session is a thorough conversation as much as an assessment. Chronic pain is shaped by many things — sleep, stress, history of injury, fear of movement — and we want to understand all of it before we plan with you.

From there, we work together. Some patients prefer to start in the water; others find hands-on work the more useful first step. We will not push you into either.

Who delivers it

Both physiotherapists in our practice work with chronic pain patients. Perla Epstein has seen meaningful change through aquatic therapy in particular, where many patients find the water creates space for movement that has felt closed off for a long time.
