Cerebral palsy
Paediatric neurodevelopmental physiotherapy for children with cerebral palsy — combining MAES therapy, NDT, and aquatic work.
Cerebral palsy in plain language
Cerebral palsy is a group of lifelong conditions that affect movement and posture, caused by changes in the developing brain — typically before, during, or shortly after birth. Every child with CP is different: different muscles affected, different patterns of movement, different goals.
How we work with children with CP
Our paediatric work for cerebral palsy combines three approaches that often sit well together:
- MAES therapy — an advanced approach that builds on the child’s own movement strategies, rather than imposing adult patterns.
- NDT (Bobath) — hands-on facilitation of higher-quality movement.
- Aquatic therapy — the heated pool gives many children access to movement work that is harder to do on land.
Perla Epstein has completed advanced MAES training and brings these approaches together. She is honest with families about what she’s seeing and will work alongside the rest of your child’s medical team.
What sessions look like
Sessions are child-led, hands-on, and parent-inclusive. We want to understand what your child is working on at home, at school, and in their wider therapy team — and what we do here should add to that, not duplicate it.
A note on expectations
Progress in paediatric neurological work happens at the child’s own pace. We will be careful with language, careful with promises, and present with you for the journey.
